Your benefits

We operate your Atlassian instances in a redundant, high-availability cluster environment

Scalability

Do you want to expand your environments quickly without compromising performance? We can scale your systems from small server environments with a single node right up to large cluster environments with many nodes and high availability.

Data security

Data security is our top priority. That is why you benefit from IP whitelisting for restricted application access and customised VPN configurations to ensure secure user connections to third-party services such as databases or user directories, enabling the implementation of a single sign-on (SSO) solution or multi-factor authentication.

Reliability

Even when operating at full capacity, you can count on 99.9% uptime for your server infrastructure.
Your data is backed up daily or weekly and can be easily restored in the event of a failure.

Compliance with data protection regulations

When your data is processed on our behalf, it is stored in a German data centre with servers located in Germany.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about hosting Atlassian solutions

  • Which application versions are installed when you sign up?
On a monthly basis, we check that all the applications we offer are up to date and update them where necessary, so that when you sign up for a hosting package, you always benefit from the latest features and security updates for the applications. However, in the context of migration projects or similar, it is also possible to specify a specific version for each application.

  • Where is EWERK’s data stored? Is it centralised in one location, or is it stored in various locations around the world?
The data is stored in a single data centre in Germany.
  • Are the applications hosted exclusively in Germany?
    Yes.
  • How does the backup work when we have an Atlassian application hosted?
The environments are fully backed up daily at around 10 pm, and each backup is retained for seven days. In the event of a restore, only the complete data state of the environment from the last backup (i.e. usually from the previous evening) can be used. Individual parts cannot be restored from the backup. It is not an incremental backup.
  • Is the backup physically separated from the production systems?
The backups are stored in a separate fire compartment.
  • Do the applications run alongside those of other customers (shared hosting)?
Each application is run on a dedicated virtual server.
  • Are the systems protected by a firewall?
Yes. Only those ports required for the operation and use/communication of the application are opened.

  • (How) can you move from Hosting Provider A to B?
Normally, by exporting the data from the environment hosted by Hosting Provider A and then importing it into an environment hosted by Hosting Provider B. As the versions of the components involved may change or differ, a migration project is required for this.
  • Is it possible to set up a global distribution network (proxies, etc.) to improve the performance of the environments?
Unfortunately, this is not currently possible.
  • Would the data really be more secure if we hosted it ourselves?
If you host in-house and access to the application is restricted to the company network, the data is secure in the sense that no external access (from the internet) is possible (access by third parties or unauthorised persons is not readily possible). With a hosted solution, this risk is slightly higher, although it should be noted that our hosting partner employs experts who are highly knowledgeable about security, encryption, access control, etc., so you do not need to provide this expertise yourself. Furthermore, there is the additional option here of blocking access from the internet or restricting it to your company network, for example via a VPN tunnel or IP whitelisting.
  • Is it possible to transfer the data from Communardo’s hosting service to another provider or to an in-house solution at a later date? If so, how will the data be made available to us?
Yes, the data can be obtained or made available via export from the application or via a database and data directory backup (e.g. on a DataShare).
  • On which systems (CPU, RAM, storage) are the applications run?
On virtualised machines. RAM, CPU and hard disk space depend on the licence size of the respective application.
  • Can the systems be scaled up easily as the number of users increases?
As the licence size is adjusted, the specifications of the environments are also scaled up. Individual scaling without changing the licence is also possible. Our sales team or your contact at Communardo will be happy to provide you with a detailed breakdown of the prices for scaling individual parameters.

  • What level of uptime can be expected for the hosting environments?
99.9% for the server (not the application).
  • Does the hosting provider have a helpline?
The helpline is available on weekdays from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.
  • Is there a 24/7 helpline?
There is no 24/7 helpline. However, an optional on-call service can be arranged for specific periods (which may incur additional costs).
  • What information do I need to provide to the helpline for authentication?
You may be asked to answer questions about your own company or the hosting contract.
