Communardo Extends Nordic Market Leadership and Acquires Aety
With the acquisition of Copenhagen-based Aety, the Communardo Group scales its Danish presence and grows to more than 480 employees
The Communardo Group is strengthening its position as the leading Atlassian partner in Northern Europe by acquiring Danish IT consulting firm Aety, headquartered in Copenhagen. The agreement was signed on April 30, 2026. Aety will be integrated into Communardo Nordics and will significantly scale Communardo’s existing Danish footprint — building on the Group’s on-the-ground presence in Denmark with a full delivery organization.

Aety brings to Communardo a strong established customer base in Denmark, an established local go-to-market engine and a deep delivery bench with strong expertise in IT service management, cloud migration, and the public sector. Together, these complement Communardo’s capabilities across modern service organizations, app-based solutions and scalable cloud delivery. With the transaction, the Communardo Group grows to more than 480 employees across Europe. The transaction is focused on Aety’s Atlassian business; the company’s monday.com practice will be carved out prior to closing and will continue to operate independently. This clear focus reflects the Communardo Group’s strategic direction toward the Atlassian ecosystem.

“Northern Europe is one of the most demanding and innovative Atlassian markets — and increasingly central to our pan-European strategy. After Stretch Addera in Sweden and Norway and Ambientia’s Atlassian business in Finland, Aety is the partner who completes the picture in Denmark. What convinced us is not size, but quality: a team with very deep Atlassian expertise, an excellent reputation in the Danish public sector and a culture that fits naturally with how Communardo operates. Together, we are now positioned to support customers across the entire Nordic region as their long-term Atlassian solution partner of choice.”
— Anje Hickey, CEO of the Communardo Group
Profile of an established Atlassian partner

Aety was founded in 2016 by four former IT consultants from the Danish National Police and has since established itself as a specialized consulting and implementation partner. The company supports organizations in improving workflows and leveraging technology effectively — particularly in the areas of Agile, DevOps, service management, and project and portfolio management.
As a certified Atlassian partner, Aety combines consulting, implementation and training. A key focus is on projects in the public sector as well as large organizations with complex requirements — a profile that complements Communardo’s existing footprint in regulated industries and enterprise customers across DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), BeNeLux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) and the Nordics.

“When we founded Aety in 2016, the goal was to build the consulting firm we ourselves would have wanted to hire as customers in the public sector — pragmatic, deeply technical, and genuinely focused on the long-term. Communardo shares that mindset, and it is entirely committed to the Atlassian ecosystem. That alignment is what made this an easy decision for us. By joining the Group, we put Aety on a much bigger stage without giving up anything that has made the company what it is today: the same team, the same culture and the same commitment to our clients.”
— Klaus Hansen, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Aety
Strategic expansion in Scandinavia — scaling Denmark from foothold to full delivery

With this acquisition, Communardo extends its Nordic market leadership and turns its existing Danish foothold into a fully-fledged delivery organization. Following the integration of Stretch Addera (Sweden, Norway and Denmark) in May 2025 and Ambientia’s Atlassian business (Finland) in January 2026, the addition of Aety significantly builds out the Danish piece of the Nordic map. Communardo Nordics now operates from offices across all four Nordic countries with nearly 100 Atlassian specialists — a leading dedicated Atlassian organization in the Nordic region — under a unified delivery model and a shared roadmap.
Existing customer relationships will be maintained and progressively extended through Communardo’s broader portfolio: app-based solutions, enterprise cloud migrations, AI-native AWS solutions through ByteSource, DevOps engineering and managed services. The aim is to combine the strengths of both organizations to support customers even more comprehensively in their digital transformation and in shaping modern work environments.

“For Communardo Nordics, this is the moment our Danish ambitions become operational. Aety brings three things that are very hard to build organically: an established customer footprint in Denmark, a local go-to-market engine that already knows the market, and a deep, certified delivery bench. Add to that, it’s strength in IT service management and complex public sector projects, and the fit with our existing Nordic platform — cross-border delivery muscle, app-based solutions, cloud capabilities — is almost ideal. From day one, customers in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark work with one Nordic team and one consistent way of delivering.”
— Mathias Carling, CEO of Communardo Nordics
“What our customers will feel first is continuity — the same people, the same way of working, the same focus on outcomes. What they will feel next is reach. From day one, we can pull in deep cloud migration expertise, app development, AWS hosting, and managed services from across the Communardo Group. In particular for our larger public sector clients, that means a partner who can take them through the full Atlassian journey — from strategy and architecture through to long-term operations.”
— Kristian Thomsen, Co-Founder and Sales Sales Director of Aety
The acquisition is supported by funds advised by BU Bregal Unternehmerkapital (“BU”), Communardo’s long-term partner on its European growth journey. BU continues to back the Group’s buy-and-build strategy in the Atlassian ecosystem.
