A modern intranet using Atlassian tools at Physik Instrumente

Thanks to a vast product range, state-of-the-art in-house key technologies and a consistently customer-focused management approach, Physik Instrumente (PI) GmbH & Co. KG has developed into the leading manufacturer of nanopositioning technology over the last five decades. To continue meeting the high demands of development in the future and to enable all staff to work efficiently, PI needed a high-performance and fully integrated software environment. Together with Communardo, the company laid the foundations for this by setting up a modern intranet based on Atlassian tools. Nothing now stands in the way of company-wide communication and collaboration.

Physik Instrumente

• A leading position in the global market for high-precision positioning
• Privately owned company with healthy growth: approx. 1,300 employees worldwide
• In-house development of key technologies across 13,000 m² of production space

Confluence has quickly established itself within the company as the foundation for a high-performance intranet. In addition, PI’s staff now also benefit from other Atlassian solutions, such as the task management tool Jira, Jira Service Management and Bitbucket with Jenkins integration.

Thanks to the Atlassian systems that have been introduced, PI now has a future-proof and stable toolset that is widely used and popular across the organisation. Above all, the modern intranet based on Confluence enables collaboration across all departments.

"We use Jira Service Management for a number of different use cases: the application not only enables us to manage our ITSM ticketing system for customers, with interfaces to CRM and ERP. We also use it as an international service desk for all service customers and can, in addition, manage the business travel process through it,” says Holger Westrich.
