Teamwork in the fast lane – Formula 1 meets software development
The biggest challenges for modern companies? Silos between teams, fragmented tools, and a lack of visibility into goals and progress. So what does all this have to do with Formula 1? The announcement of the partnership with the F1 team Williams Racing was certainly a special moment for motorsport fans. Racing is a prime example of teamwork under extreme pressure and the clever use of innovative technologies. Success and failure are often separated by only milliseconds. From the pit crew and the drivers to the technical and management teams, it's clear that when every decision has to be made in a split second, seamless collaboration, precise data, and smart tools are crucial.
Atlassian's answer? "System of Work" – a centralized approach that focuses on structure, transparency, and AI. This is no longer just about individual tools for developers or IT – but about connecting all areas of the company: from marketing to product management to executive management – everyone pulls together, based on the following four principles:
- Alignment around common goals
- Seamless, cross-team planning
- Cross-silo knowledge integration
- Embedded AI support in all work processes
Technology is your competitive advantage – your key to winning the race
Atlassian Cloud Platform - The high-performance engine that powers your system of work
There is a central power under the hood of all Atlassian products: the Atlassian Cloud Plattform. It is the technical foundation for modern teamwork—scalable, secure, intelligent, and open to individual extensions. To reflect Atlassian's progressive philosophy, it has been fundamentally revised in recent months.
Rovo - The AI colleague for everyone
One of the stars of the keynote was Rovo – Atlassian's proprietary AI platform. An intelligent partner that not only answers questions but also gets things done.
"We see Rovo not just as a tool, but as a new team member," says Mike, CEO & Co-Founder of Atlassian. Fully integrated into the Atlassian world, Rovo is designed to make our work not just faster, but truly smarter, even across platforms, thanks to 50 new connectors. Trained on billions of data points from the Teamwork Graph, Rovo is designed to enable completely new ways of working in the future with the following three core components:
Best of all, Rovo is now included for free in Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management for Standard, Premium, and Enterprise plans.
Core Teamwork Apps: Atlassian's core becomes even more powerful
Jira, Confluence, and Loom, Atlassian's core teamwork apps, have undergone significant enhancements and tighter integration over the past year. Together, they form the backbone of collaborative work in the Atlassian Cloud and are now more integrated than ever before.
All three apps are now part of the new Atlassian Teamwork Collection – along with AI agents from Rovo, which make workflows even smarter. A powerful package for any organization that wants to take collaboration to the next level, starting at just $15 per user per month. We already have some clear contenders for our absolute favorite agents:
Brainstorming Facilitator: Uses AI-based insights to develop more targeted and creative ideas. Creates maps on Confluence whiteboards with historical data to improve collaboration.
Diagram Creator: Transforms discussions into clear, AI-generated diagrams on Confluence whiteboards. Lets us present ideas effortlessly and visually.
Meeting Insights Reporter: Aggregates valuable meeting insights, including key decisions and actions. Teams get the information they need to discuss in one meeting or across multiple meetings recorded with Loom.
Strategy Collection – When planning meets implementation
With the new Atlassian Strategy Collection, Atlassian is launching its first solution that seamlessly links strategic planning, goal tracking, and team competency. The goal is to create a consistent connection between vision, operational work, and the people who implement it.
Central to this is the deep integration of strategic goals with daily work processes. In tools like Jira or Jira Align, goals are now directly visible and measurable – progress is automatically transferred to Focus, a new app for strategic overview and prioritization. If a goal stalls, Rovo agents intervene: They analyze risks, suggest measures, or directly create new work packages – for example, based on meeting recordings or Confluence documents.
At the same time, Talent brings a completely new element to the Atlassian world: a platform that makes skills and competencies visible within the company. Teams can use it to access expertise in a targeted manner, manage personnel development, and identify gaps in the skillset early on. Always with direct relevance to ongoing work.
Complementing this is Jira Align, which continues to serve as the core of agile planning at the enterprise level. It connects strategy, teams, programs, and portfolios, ensuring that all levels work in sync.
What's inside? An overview of the components of the Strategy Collection
Focus – New app for visualizing and tracking strategic initiatives
Talent – Platform for capturing, leveraging, and developing skills and competencies Jira
Align – Enterprise planning tool for agile strategy and portfolio management Rovo
Agents – AI support for planning, goal tracking, and strategic action
Goals (integrated) – Goals are seamlessly integrated and available system-wide
The Atlassian Strategy Collection makes strategy tangible and operationalizes it directly in daily operations. Teams know not only what they're doing, but also why. A true game changer for organizations that want to respond to change flexibly and purposefully.
While Talent is currently in Early Access, Focus is already available to all cloud customers. The best part? Jira Align customers receive the new products at no additional cost.
Service & People: How Atlassian is reconnecting support and HR teams
In a modern working world where service quality and employee development are equally critical to success, the true value of integrated platforms becomes apparent. Atlassian is taking precisely this approach, connecting not only teams but also entire functional areas such as customer service and HR management with its cloud platform.
Customer Service Management – Intelligent support that thinks along
With the new Customer Service Management app in the Atlassian Cloud, support and IT teams gain a powerful toolkit for fast, scalable, and empathetic customer service across all channels.
At its heart is Jira Service Management, which is now even more closely integrated with Rovo: requests are automatically analyzed, categorized, and, where possible, answered directly. The Rovo Web Bot enables companies to equip their own website with an AI-powered chatbot that answers questions around the clock, pulls information from Jira, Confluence, or third-party sources, and seamlessly transfers it to a support ticket when needed.
Another highlight: Customers or employees can directly attach Loom videos to clearly document errors or issues, a huge help for support teams, who thus require significantly fewer follow-up queries.
Added to this are self-service portals, automated escalations, and consistent access to assets, services, and knowledge articles. All intelligently linked via the Teamwork Graph.
HR Management – More clarity and scope for development for teams
What works for customer service also has an impact on HR. HR teams use Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence to map onboarding, internal services, and training processes in a structured and transparent manner. Employees can submit inquiries, find documents, or view their status – just as easily as a customer at the help desk.
With the new Talent App (currently in Early Access), Atlassian is taking HR management to a new level: skills, interests, and available expertise are made visible across teams. This allows for more targeted deployment and development of talent. Combined with the Goals App, this creates a seamless development process in which personal goals are linked to the company's strategic objectives.
Further innovations from the presentation – Small features, big impact
Modern UX update: Atlassian has redesigned the user interfaces across all products – with clearer navigation elements, consistent design, and better accessibility. The goal: fewer context switches, more focus.
Developer support with Rovo Agents: Development teams benefit from new Rovo Developer Agents that analyze pull requests, prepare feedback, and automatically suggest appropriate documentation. Internally, Atlassian was able to shorten PR cycles by 45%.
Custom project templates in Jira: Teams can now save their own project setups as templates, including workflows, automations, and boards. Ideal for recurring processes.
Asset integration everywhere: Assets from JSM can now be integrated system-wide, including in Confluence or Goals, for example, for better traceability of hardware, services, or infrastructure.
Next Level Collaboration: Our Conclusion on Atlassian’s New “System of Work”
Atlassian Team '25 impressively demonstrated: The future of work is connected, data-driven, and powered by AI. What particularly impressed us was the holistic approach. Moving away from individual tools and toward a true "system of work" that intelligently connects people, goals, and processes.
