User Profiles for Confluence has become an indispensable app for almost every intranet project we have delivered so far. Extending the quantity and quality of information that is available in profile cards is key to creating a useful people directory. By combining user profile information with metadata from wiki pages, we’ve been able to personalize newsfeeds and user experiences in Confluence even more.

As always, User Profiles for Confluence enables you to:
- Create more powerful profiles
- Synchronize with user directories like Active Directory or LDAP
- Effortlessly integrate profiles in macros to build org charts and phone books
We have also added new features to UPC version 2.1 that make it an even more useful app for your Confluence system.
What’s new for User Profiles for Confluence 2.1?
Other than fixing 28 bugs, we are happy to bring to you 9 new features. Let’s take a closer look at the highlights:
Seamless Skype for Business integration
Let’s say you’re browsing through your people directory, and you find the person you’re looking for. Wouldn’t it be great if you could start a Skype chat with one click right from the profile card you are looking at? Well, now you can! With a simple click on the “Start Skype Chat” icon, you can instantly start a new chat with the person you want to chat to.

Metadata and User Profiles, made to work together
Metadata for Confluence and User Profiles for Confluence have teamed up to deliver even more personalized newsfeeds and content to you. By choosing, for example, the “location” field provided by the User Profiles app and using it as metadata on a wiki page or blog post, you can now create location-based newsfeeds with ease.

This is not a totally new feature. We’ve just made it easier to use since you don’t have to maintain data in two separate locations anymore. The data in User Profiles for Confluence 2.1 can now seamlessly be accessed in Metadata for Confluence.
Click-to-call for everybody!
UPC 2.1 comes with a new type of field explicitly for phone numbers. This allows you to simply click on the number and to start a conversation using any telephone application on your PC, Mac or smartphone. Less copy&paste – more click&call.
