SharePoint Connector for Confluence is soon approaching end-of-life. While no date is set yet this is an early warning so that you, our customers can plan and prepare accordingly. To be prepared as best as possible we are seeking insight into our customer’s usage of the app so you could do us a major favor if you participate in the following survey:
This year marks the tenth anniversary for SharePoint Connector for Confluence. Originally developed by Atlassian, this popular app was acquired by Communardo in 2016. Since then, we have put a lot of love and effort into taking it to the next level. First, we added support for SharePoint Server 2016. Then, we developed Version 2.0, which turned out to be an all-new product: SharePoint Online Connector for Confluence.
These two products have coexisted for the last two years, both performing the same basic functions for different versions of SharePoint. Increasingly, we find that companies are moving from older Server SharePoint instances to SharePoint Online. That process often does not include a migration, and the “old” SharePoint is used for existing projects while new data is created and stored in SharePoint Online. This leads to a scenario where both systems are used in parallel, requiring two different connector apps.
Over the last two years, we have focused our development efforts on the SharePoint Online Connector. Today, the app supports SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server 2016, and SharePoint Server 2019. Customers of this app enjoy a modern UI/UX, powerful new features, and ongoing enhancements. Meanwhile, the legacy SharePoint Connector has been rendered all but obsolete. Therefore, we have introduced an End-of-Life Program for the old SharePoint Connector to help existing customer migrate to the much more capable of SharePoint Online Connector.
What does that mean for you?
In the near future, there will only be one App in the Atlassian Marketplace that connects SharePoint and Confluence. The date is not set yet and we are currently gathering our customer’s feedback. This is what the survey is about so if could spare five minutes please take part.
