Are you using Metadata for Confluence Cloud to better structure and organize your content management capabilities?
If yes, I have a piece of great news to share today. Date field type has finally joined the Metadata field type family.
Now you can add dates as a specific field type to better manage your documents/projects according to your needs and specifications.
What is new? Use case:
Let’s assume you need to document and keep track of multiple released versions of products on a regular basis.
Initially, you start by creating a Content Category named Release Documentation.
Afterward, you add the appropriate Metadata fields on the Content Category, which include all the details you’ll need from the Release Documentation such as Product Owner, Product Team, Related Products, and Status.
But something’s missing, right?
You can now add a Metadata field as date and name it Release Date.
How does it work?
Starting from today you can add deadlines or starting dates related to your documents by adding them as Metadata values in the Date field type.
Admin Steps:
An administrator can guide users through the creation of Confluence content by creating Content Categories and adding Date field types to them.
User Steps:
- Users can add a date value in a Date field
- Users can easily navigate through dates of the past or future
Benefit more from the Date field type! How?
According to the needs you have, you can create reports of your content by combining different filters on the Report Macro same as with other field types(Single & Multi Select, Page link, User, Text).
Let’s see how most of our customers benefit from this feature:
- Generate reports with all the projects that have a deadline on a specific date
- Generate reports with all the projects that already started
- Generate reports with all product requirements that have been released in the past
What’s next?
We’re not done with developing & improving this essential app. Our next plans are:
- Remove Content Category from a page
- Add OR filter for multiple option field types
- …stay tuned
Now it’s time for you to enjoy all the beauty and benefits Metadata offers. Try it out yourself today!
