User Profiles for Confluence and Metatadata for Confluence are apps designed to enable you to add additional information to Confluence user profiles (e.g. role in the company) and wiki pages (e.g. who really needs this information). By using both apps together, we’re now able to add important user profile information directly to a wiki page.
The Result
In the following example, the users Christina and Michaela are served different information when accessing the exact same wiki overview page. The results are filtered by the location given in their user profiles.

User Profiles
With only one click, every user is able to adjust the location in his or her profile.

Here’s How It’s Done
1. Extend the User Profile
You can easily extend the user profile by adding a new field and its options with the User Profiles for Confluence app.

2. Apply the User Field to Metadata for Confluence
The newly created field can now be applied as metadata. There’s no need to maintain the values in both apps – value changes in User Profiles for Confluence are immediately merged with Metadata for Confluence.

3. Include the query in a wiki page
The page editor can now easily start a query with the help of the “Metadata Overview” macro. The new parameter “CurrentUser” directly connects with the user profile.
